Golden Nugget Atlantic City welcomes musical mimics to its annual ‘Fakefest’

The week-long, dockside tribute-band bash kicks off Monday

The sounds of such superstar acts as Bob Marley, Chicago, Bruce Springsteen and Led Zeppelin will fill Atlantic City’s Marina district as Golden Nugget Atlantic City Monday kicks off Fakefest, its annual free-admission orgy of pop and rock soundalikes, at The Deck Bayfront Bar & Restaurant, the casino’s al fresco bar-restaurant.

While hardly the Miss America Pageant, Fakefest has become something of an AyCee tradition. It was created 20 years ago when the bayside gaming hall was Trump Marina Casino-Hotel. It is pretty much the only vestige of the Marina retained under the aegis of Golden Nugget.

When it debuted in 1999, Fakefest was a weekend-long affair. But the public’s seemingly unquenchable thirst for musical mimicry has caused the annual event to expand to seven days).

The party gets started Monday at 6:30 p.m. with a set by Sensamotion, which salutes reggae deity Bob Marley. The final act, Aerosmith soundalike Draw the Line, wraps things up July 14 at 10:10 p.m.

The rest of the schedule is as follows:

Tuesday: Refugee (Tom Petty), 8 and 9:30 p.m.

Wednesday: Separate Ways The Band (Journey), 8 and 9:30 p.m.

Thursday: B Street Band (Bruce Springsteen), 8 p.m.

Friday: The Prince Experience (Prince), 7 and 9 p.m.; Completely Unchained (Van Halen), 8:20 and 11:10 p.m.

Saturday: Beginnings (Chicago), 1:30 and 8 p.m.; Tuesday’s Gone (Lynyrd Skynyrd), 3:10 and 9:35 p.m.; Kashmir (Led Zeppelin), 4:50 and 11:10 p.m.
