R.I. State Senator Wants Casinos to Hire More Bet Takers

Claims long lines are costing the state tax money

The Associated Press reports that Dominick Ruggerio, the Senate President in Rhode Island, is concerned that the state is losing out on tax revenue related to sports betting because the state’s Twin River Casinos don’t have enough staff taking bets.

Ruggiero said the Lincoln casino beat estimates when it took in $170,000 on its first day. Many of the bettors came from Massachusetts, where sports betting is still illegal.
