Week 2 of the EPL will kick off on Friday, August 22nd, and we have an amazing weekend of games in store. Week 1 gave us some good insight on how these teams might look throughout the year.
While the transfer window is still open, we at least have an idea of who these teams will be fielding. Today, I am going to break down the games and give you my 2 favorite bets for Sunday, August 24th.
Both of these squads had solid starts to the season, tailing off of great years in 2024-2025. Forest took a 3-1 win over Brentford in week 1, while Palace managed a draw against a tough Chelsea team on the road.
Both of these teams will hope to build on the moderate success they had last season, so this should be a fun one. I do think it may be a low-scoring affair, however, as under 2.5 goals have been hit in each of these teams' last 5 matches.
It was a tough start to the season for Everton, who lost to recently promoted Leeds in their debut back in the top league. Everton are coming into this game with no wins in their last 7 matches, going back to last season.
They now face a tough Brighton squad who haven’t lost in their last 10, stretching back to last season. They started the season with a hard-fought draw against a scrappy Fulham team, with Fulham scoring the tying goal in extra time. Brighton is certainly the more talented team here, so we will see if they can overcome playing on the road.
Man U started their season on a rough note, following last season's performance perfectly. Although the loss was to Arsenal, Man U will be looking for a bounce back on the road this weekend. They made some major moves over the offseason, including signing striker Banjamin Sesko for £73.7 million.
Fulham started their season with a wild finish against Brighton, scoring the game-tying goal in extra time. Although Man U has struggled in recent years, they have a great record against Fulham, winning four of their last five meetings.
Brighton (+140) at Everton - It was a brutal start to the season for Everton as they got beaten 0-1 by newly promoted Leeds. Now, they will take on a tough Brighton team that has been rolling, dating back to last season, with 10 straight games without a loss. This may be a high-scoring game, and I think that is advantageous for Brighton.
Manchester United (+120) at Fulham - United looked much improved, albeit in a loss, last week against Arsenal. They also have had great success against Fulham, winning four of their last 5 meetings. United also shouldn’t be at much of a disadvantage on the road this weekend, as Fulham won (7) as many games as they lost (7) at home last season.
