Thiessen's Thursday NHL Picks: Boston Bruins at New York Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes at Tampa Bay Lightning

Myron Thiessen

Hockey, eh?

What a difference a game can make. Montreal is now the favorite to move on past Winnipeg, in large part due to the long suspension facing Jets center Mark Scheifele for what has been labeled a “disgusting” and “dirty” hit on Jake Evans.

Thursday, the two other series take the ice, with Tampa Bay looking to take a commanding 3-0 lead on Carolina, and Boston or New York looking for an advantage after three games.

I think both could be tight encounters, with the Lightning all but locking up another trip to the semifinals. Boston could take back home ice with a win over the Islanders.
