Micah Parsons to the Packers is one of the biggest trades for a defensive player in NFL history. The 26-year-old is in the prime of his career, and after the Jerry Jones feud, he comes out on top as the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history while heading to a true contender in Green Bay.
Parsons joins what was already a top 10 defense in the league and fits the Packers’ timeline perfectly. Now the big question: How good can the Packers be in 2025?
In yet another superstar trade out of Dallas, Micah Parsons gives the Packers the best player at the second-most important position in football. Green Bay finished last season with 45 sacks (8th), 15 FF (3rd), and 17 INTs (3rd).
Add in Micah Parsons, and this might be the best defensive unit in the league. Additionally, if Green Bay obtains home-field advantage through the postseason, who wants to play in Wisconsin in January? Not many. Even with Jordan Love struggling last year due to injury, the Packers still went 11-6 and lost to the Super Bowl champions in a game where Love threw 3 interceptions.
In 2023, the Packers were just a few plays away from making the NFC Championship game after a 9-8 regular season. This team is extremely capable and even without a true WR1, their offensive core is good enough to make a trip to the big game.
Philadelphia, Detroit, and Tampa Bay are truly the only other contenders for the top spot in the NFC. Philly is due for some regression after an incredible season in which they rarely dealt with injuries and had a fairly favorable schedule.
Detroit will have learning adjustments without Ben Johnson. Finally, Tampa Bay’s consistency has been an issue over the last few seasons, although they are in the easiest division in football.
Green Bay has been absolutely elite under LaFleur, winning 13 games in each of his first three seasons and obtaining a 20-14 regular-season record since the Jordan Love takeover. At +650 odds and this defense potentially blossoming into the best unit in the NFC, this is a must-hit bet.
Possibly the best bet on the books right now, Green Bay has won 11 or more games in four of LaFleur's six seasons as Head Coach.
While their season starts off difficult against Detroit and Washington, both those games are at home, while Cleveland and Dallas round out the first quarter of the year as away opponents.
Playing Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Washington, and Baltimore at home throughout the season is a huge plus for this Packers squad that has gone 11-6 in home games over the last two seasons.
