It’s hard to believe that we’re less than a month away from kicking off the 2025 NFL season. While fans are waiting for their favorite teams to start, viewers are being treated to some Friday Night preseason football this week when the Kansas City Chiefs travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks.
Neither team was victorious in their first preseason contest. Kansas City dropped a 20-17 decision to the Arizona Cardinals last week, while Seattle finished tied with the Oakland Raiders in their contentious matchup.
Which team will come out victorious in their contest on Friday? We’ll cover that while providing you with some game props from the Chiefs’ matchup against the Seahawks.
Seattle lost a Pro Bowl quarterback this offseason when the franchise traded Geno Smith to the Raiders. The Seahawks took a chance on another signal-caller coming off a career year, signing Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million contract in March.
Is Darnold worth nine figures over the next three seasons? There’s no guarantee this pans out, but fans will certainly be frustrated if he struggles during his season-opening opportunity. Expect the coaching staff to feature his services heavily in their opening drive on Friday night, and he’ll reward them with a passing touchdown for their efforts.
News broke Thursday that Kansas City wide receiver Rashee Rice would have his disciplinary hearing set for September, allowing the player to play before meeting with the NFL. That’s good news for Chiefs fans and bad news for Kansas City’s opponents.
But how likely is he to play in Friday’s game against Seattle? After experiencing a minor groin injury during training camp, the wide receiver missed out on his team’s preseason opener against Arizona.
He’s also coming off an ACL tear that ended his 2024 campaign. With all of these issues, it’s safe for bettors to assume Rice is nowhere near ready for a large workload. Take him to finish under five receptions during this pre-season matchup against the Seahawks.
With scant information about which starters will sit or play, oddsmakers are keeping a tight handle on player prop bets. But there are plenty that bettors can glean from these two teams’ initial outings to help them earn some cold, hard cash.
Last week, Seattle scored 16 points in their first-half matchup against the Raiders. Kansas City allowed 17 second-quarter points to the Cardinals. All signs are pointing to a high-scoring first half, making this a savvy wager for bettors.
Kansas City coach Andy Reid has been coy about his starting lineup. The veteran coach has yet to announce which starters will play or how long those players will stay in the game. Given Reid’s history with benching starters for much of the preseason action, it’s safe to assume Kansas City will feature its backups in this contest.
That favors Seattle significantly. Expect the Seahawks’ offense to have a solid night with Drew Lock and Sam Howell fighting for depth chart positioning. Take the home team to win this contest by more than three points on Friday night.
