The NFL will spring into action this week, a much-awaited day for fans. It might just be the Hall of Fame Game, which some people aren’t that excited about, given the players that are slated to play in this game, but it’s football nonetheless. All of the waiting in the offseason comes to an end, as we watch the Los Angeles Chargers take on the Detroit Lions.
We, of course, have put our favorite Underdog player props together from the action, excited for an opportunity to bet on the NFL. Let’s dive in, hoping to start the NFL season with a strong night of props!
We’re not going to overthink this one too much. Hendon Hooker was a great prospect in college whose ceiling was capped by a gruesome injury, and because of that, he hasn’t gotten much of a chance in the NFL.
The Lions took a chance on him with a third-round draft pick in 2023, hoping to develop him under Jared Goff. Fans will have a great opportunity to watch him in this game, wondering if he has much upside as an NFL quarterback.
Look for Hooker to make the most of his time in the spotlight, throwing for at least 100 yards and potentially making a case to become a starter eventually.
This line feels far too high for Lance, even though he has a lot of rushing upside. When looking at the Hall of Fame Game last year between the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans, neither team had someone rush for over 30 yards.
Plus, quarterbacks from both teams combined for three rushing attempts, so we have a hard time believing Lance will take off on the run. He’s starting this game with the hopes of re-establishing himself as a strong passer in this league, and will likely be more risk-averse when it comes to rushing attempts.
Look for Lance to have a lot of passing attempts in this one, but not many opportunities on the ground.
Dicker the Kicker never seems to disappoint. He was a big part of the Chargers’ offense last year, having the 11th-best field goal percentage in the league, and usually coming up big when they needed him to get three points on the board.
Hall of Fame games aren’t always the highest scoring, but we’re expecting Dicker to be busy enough to kick at least two field goals, hitting the over in this spot.
