Mike Kern's NFL picks: Panthers vs Titans, Raiders vs Lions, Jaguars vs Texans and a 3-team teaser with the Eagles, Cowboys and Seahawks

Mike Kern

And on this week’s pro picks, because the editors insist we must. And hey, we did go 6-1 just a couple of weeks ago. Of course it’s more about what are you going to do for me tomorrow, right? I get that. So I’ll try harder.

Panthers (-3.5) over Titans

Panthers were doing well with their new quarterback until last week, when they got crushed. But they got crushed in San Francisco. So I’m looking for them to bounce back in a big way, at home. Still can’t figure out the Titans, who have won their last two. But both were at home. They’ve beaten the Browns and Falcons on the road, but lost to the Broncos and Jags.

Raiders (-2) over Lions

It’s the Raiders first home game since like 2016. And they’ve been good at home. Detroit hasn’t been that good on the road. Lions are 1-3 since beating the Eagles.

Three-team teaser

Eagles (+4) over Bears, Cowboys (+2) over Giants and Seahawks (+2.5) over Buccaneers

I’m not saying it will necessarily be easy (when is it ever?), but hey last week I hit one of these. So it does happen. I don’t think the Eagles will lose at home to a team that has trouble scoring. I know the Cowboys are on the road. But they’re coming off a bye against an opponent, albeit a divisional one, that seems to be somewhat dysfunctional. At least that’s what they’re saying on New York radio. Who am I to argue? And the Boys won’t lose two in a row in New York, will they? The Jets beat them there not too long ago. And while I think the Bucs might cover, I still have to like the Seahawks, banged up or not, at home against a team traveling all the way across country. We’ll see. In this game, two out of three don’t cut it.

Jaguars (+1.5) over Texans

Jags lost in Houston in the second game, by a point. They’ve won three of the last four they’ve played in London. Not only is J.J. Watt out, but DeShaun Watson, who I love, might be playing with an eye that’s still not quite right after getting kicked last week. Jags have won last two, although they were over Jets and Bengals. So maybe they don’t really count. Time to find out.

There you have it. Going rather light this week. Was thinking about a couple of others but opted to pass. Of course those teams will probably win. Maybe it’s a good thing that I’m the only one who’ll ever know.

Until we catch up again next week, best of luck out there. It ain’t easy. Don't say you weren't warned.
