The Monmouth Hawks were 0-12 when they arrived at the Palestra on the afternoon of Dec. 31 to face a Penn team that had lost two of its three frontcourt options. The Hawks won the game 76-74 in OT and it turned their season around.
They went 10-8 in MAAC play, with two four-game winning streaks, won three rounds in the MAAC Tournament and play Iona tonight in Albany to go to the NCAA Tournament.
Iona is the one-seed and won nine in a row and went to the Big Dance last season, so it's not going to be easy for Monmouth. But the two did split during the regular season and when they were 0-12, was anyone thinking this was a possibility, except maybe Coach King Rice.
The line is Iona -4.5 and O/U 139.

Hey, if Wild for Love is going to be forced to go to the breeding shed, it might as well be with a Divining Rod.
Another good weekend. Mark Eckel picked the winner of the NASCAR Phoenix race. The Ivy Teaser went 11-5 to finish the season at a very sporty 58-30. Greg Frank was just a little above .500, an off-weekend for him. Boop Vetrone won three of five Philly Props. Craig Dietel won three of five NHL games. Basting won six of ten Overwatch League matches. Neal Abrams went 27-13 in tennis action at Indian Wells. Sean Millerwent 6-3-6 in global soccer matches (a lot of pushes in soccer), and in horse handicapping, Mick McMudder had FOUR winners and two seconds in six races yesterday. Chris Garrity had $108 winner in The Gotham Stakes on Saturday.
We'll try to do even better today.
Good luck at the tables, windows, kiosks and apps.
