Welcome to some more Wednesday Conference USA action, sports betting family. As it usually does, the year is going by way too fast, but there are lots of fun games left out there for us.
I've found some nice edges on tonight's Middle Tennessee State vs Delaware game, which kicks off at 7:30 Eastern Time on ESPN2. I've broken down all aspects of this matchup and came up with an early best bet to hopefully help build your bankroll.
Good luck and enjoy the action! This should be an exciting CUSA clash on Hump Day. Let's get into it!
Online sportsbooks opened this line at Delaware -10 on the look-ahead line a few days ago. However, that line was adjusted down to Delaware -8.5 or -9 after the Blue Hens laid a major egg against Jacksonville State last week. Middle Tennessee enjoyed a bye week to try and figure things out.
As for the game total, there's been a big move toward the Over so far. The line opened at 53.5, and almost every sportsbook in the US is now dealing 55.5. Both defenses give up more than 28 points per game, so the late money could keep coming in on the Over.
The Blue Hens just looked discombobulated in their last outing against Jacksonville State. They turned the ball over a ton and got way more penalties than they normally do. It was almost as if their bye week worked against them instead of for them.
Is this a get-right spot for Delaware at home in another national TV spot? It should be, especially if they can get RB Jo Silver going. The 5'10" senior leads the team in rushing with 375 yards and 4 total TDs.
Delaware's defense has struggled at times, but they've rushed the passer pretty well so far this season. The Hens rank a respectable 52nd in the nation in sack rate, so look for them to send the blitz early and often on Wednesday night.
It's been a rough year so far for the Blue Raiders, who are just 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. RB Jekail Middlebrook has been one of the few bright spots on offense. He's racked up 433 yards and 2 TDs for Middle Tennessee.
The Blue Raiders' defense has tons of holes, but they rush the passer exceptionally well, so the Delaware O-line had better be ready to pass protect. Middle Tennessee has already been pretty decent at stopping the run this season.
MTSU at Delaware - 7:30 PM EDT on ESPN2
I'm an MTSU alum, and it kills me to bet against my alma mater. However, I'm committed to my subscribers and my bankroll. Even with the Blue Raiders coming off the bye, I still make this line Delaware -12 with my power ratings.
Delaware was embarrassed last week on national TV against Jacksonville State, so this is a great redemption spot for the Blue Hens. QB Nick Minicucci should be able to light up this Middle Tennessee secondary, which is banged up and ranks just 130th in yards per pass allowed. Delaware's offense is also one of the best in the land at converting 3rd downs, so we have that going for us as well.
Middle Tennessee has a few playmakers, but QB Nicholas Vattiato rarely has time to get them the ball. The Blue Raiders' O-line ranks just 94th in sack rate allowed, so Delaware should be able to create some havoc. As a bettor who loves to bet underdogs, it kills me to lay this many points, but it's the only way to look in this spot. Go Hens! Have a blessed day, sports betting family!
