Thursday: How We Fared

Results of our predictions for Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018

The Philly Props: Temple Football did a lot better than Temple Football. We gave .5 points for the first quarter in their bowl game against Duke and 2 points for the half. At the end of the first 15 minutes, Temple was up 13-7. Check. At halftime, they were up 27-21. Check. Check. Unfortunately for Owls fans, Duke outscored them in the second half 35-0.

In the Pinstripe Bowl, we took Wisconsin +3 and the game against Miami at under 47.5. The Badgers sucked the wind out of the Hurricanes, winning 35-3. Two more winning plays. Four-for-four on the Bowl bets.

In NHL action, we had the Penguins giving 1.5 goals (+105) to the Red Wings. Pittsburgh won 5-2. We had the Bruins -210 on the money line against the Devils. New Jersey thumped Boston, 5-2. Lastly we had the home Lightning over the Flyers on the money line (-230) and expected a shootout and took the over 6.5 (-110). Things were looking great on both fronts when Tampa Bay led 5-2 (what’s with that score tonight) after two periods. But the Flyer stormed back with 3 goals in the third and took the game to OT. Alex Killorn scored a mere 18 seconds into OT to give Tampa Bay the 6-5 win and make our hockey picks 3 out of 4.

Rounding out the night, we picked the Jazz -5 over the Sixers and our Sixers Philly Props bet needed Joel Embiid to do some work against Jazz center Rudy Gobert and put up a combined 40 or more (points + rebounds + assists). Embiid did put in the work and finished with 23 points, 15 boards and 6 assists, which equals 44. His big game, however, led he Sixers to a rare road victory. They beat the Jazz 114-97.

For the day, we got 8 out of 10 right.
