ACC Wednesday: Taking on the Ramblin’ Wreck

Mark Eckel

There’s two games in the ACC Wednesday night, but only one of them peaks our interest:

CLEMSON (-3) at GEORGIA TECH, 7 p.m.
Pick: Clemson (-3)

There are some trends that favor the Yellow Jackets (11-11) in this one. They are 9-5 at home; and 15-7 against the spread, while the Tigers (13-8) are 1-4 on the road and 8-13 against the spread.

Thing is, though, Clemson is just the better team and even on the road should be able to win by more than three points.

Clemson beat Georgia Tech at home, 72-60, behind 30 points from shooting guard Marcquise Reed (19.1 points per game) last month and the short trip to Atlanta shouldn’t be that big of a deal.

Tech couldn’t stop Reed that night and won’t stop him again Wednesday. Look for point guard Shelton Mitchell to get more involved as well.

The Yellow Jackets have scored more than 60 points just once in their last six games, a 63-61 win over Notre Dame. That won’t be enough against Reed and Tigers.
