In Thursday's NBA action, we are taking swings on two playmaking bigs who are posing as triple-double threats tonight. Nikola Jokic against Sacramento and Derik Queen facing Portland have the makings of big nights for those respective bigs in intra-conference matchups.
Elsewhere, Ryan Rollins should continue to struggle as the Bucks face a superior Celtics defense. Check out our three NBA player props for December 11 below.
Jokic has been extremely close to a handful of triple-doubles as of late. He has come up either two or fewer rebounds or assists shy in five of his last six outings. He will face a Sabonis-less Kings squad that sits in the bottom five in points allowed and rebounds allowed per contest.
With Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun still out for Denver, this will create more rebounding opportunities for Jokic, and with Denver not having any problems scoring against Sacramento over the last two seasons (6-1 record & 120+ points in all but one outing), this screams triple-double for the league’s best.
DQ is coming off his best game as a pro with a 33/10/10 outing against San Antonio Monday night in a Pels loss. With Queen’s minutes rising and his status within the Pelicans rotation changing, I’d take a swing on back-to-back triple-doubles in a great matchup against Portland.
The Blazers are middle of the pack in assists allowed per game, bottom six in points allowed per game, and again middle of the pack in rebounds allowed per contest. The key for Queen will be starting the game aggressively in the first half. In Monday’s triple-double, he had just 4 points, 6 boards, and 3 assists before exploding for 21 third-quarter points, 4 boards, and 5 dimes.
He got to the line 9 times in that quarter, and for Portland, sitting in the bottom four of personal fouls per game, this could be another DQ aggressive night where the Blazers can’t figure him out.
With the emergence of Kevin Porter Jr., Ryan Rollins has taken a slight backseat in this Bucks offense. While KPJ has averaged 21.8 PPG on 62% shooting from downtown in his opening games of the year, Rollins has averaged just 13.5 PPG in that time span, scoring 10 or fewer points in three of six contests for the Bucks.
Against a Celtics team that is favored by 9 and a solid perimeter defense unit, it is likely Rollins doesn’t explode today, especially given Rollins has not played meaningful minutes against Boston these last few seasons.
