Dallas Mavericks at New Orleans Pelicans, 8 pm Eastern

The Pick: New Orleans +3.5 (-110), bet $27.47 to win $25

On a short slate of games before the All-Star Break, I’ll take just this home dog. The move from +3 to +3.5 tips the thinking in favor of the Pelicans. Although they’ve lost all three games against Dallas this season, as a home underdog this season the Pelicans' average margin of loss has been -3.1, which would cover tonight. This margin has beaten the average spread by 1.5 points. New Orleans forward Brandon Ingram has scored 22.3 points and delivered 5.3 assists per game this season, and didn’t make the All-Star team(s). I suspect he’s going to be up for giving Dallas and All-Star Luka Doncic a taste of vengeance. These two teams are 25th (Dallas) and 26th (New Orleans) in scoring offense and are more evenly matched if you take away the Pelicans’ horrible 3-16 start. It’ll be a tight game going into the break.
