NASCAR Sunday - The Eckel Three Pick the Camping World 400 at ChicagoLand Speedway

Mark Eckel

Camping World 400
ChicagoLand Speedway, 3 p.m.

NASCAR heads to the Windy City, Sunday, and switches its broadcasts from Fox and FoxSports to NBC and NBCSports.

Now can one of the circuit’s top drivers get his first win of the season? He, will if The Eckel Three panel of experts is right.

Kevin Harvick ranks third in the points standings with 573, trailing just Joey Logano (643) and Kyle Busch (642), despite the fact he has yet to earn a win this season.

Chances appear high for Harvick and the No. 4 team to deliver Stewart-Haas Racing its first win of the year with Harvick topping the 10-lap averages in Saturday’s final practice and a second-place starting spot, pending pre-race inspection.

Harvick has finished third in this race both last year (losing to Busch) and in 2017 (to Martin Truex Jr.). He won in Chicago in both 2001 and 2002, the first two years of the race and his first two two seasons on the circuit. He remains the only driver to win back-to-back races in Chicago.

Another storyline for Sunday’s race involves the playoff standings where Ryan Newman, with 391 points, is just one point ahead of Jimmie Johnson for the 16th and final spot. Eric Jones isn’t far behind with 386 points.

Below are the selections for the winner, the top three, top five and for all your fantasy leagues. Of course, our panel of experts includes Scott “Tobacco Road’’ Baker and Mike “Left Turn’’ Sweeney.

THE PICKS:

Kevin Harvick (7-2): Despite not winning this season, Harvick has been in the top 10 11 times in the 16 races this season. He looked good all weekend. If it doesn’t happen this week, it might not happen this season.

Joey Logano (11-1): The circuit’s points leader was strongly supported by “Left Turn’’. Logano is looking for his first win in Chicago. His best finish was a second in 2016. With a generous price, he’s worth a long look.

Martin Truex Jr. (6-1): The hottest driver on the circuit is looking for his fifth win of the season and to break the tie with Kyle Busch for most wins. He’ll be starting out of the 18th spot, but that hasn’t hurt him in the past. Leave the New Jersey native out at your own risk.

Longshot Plays: Kurt Busch (15-1), Clint Bowyer (20-1).
