Happy Tuesday, fellow sports investors! Monday was rough for us on the MLB side of things. We went 1-2 to run our record to 86-68 on player props this season. It was just one of those weird nights where normally high strikeout guys just couldn't build any momentum.
Jacob deGrom had kind of a rough start against the Angels, as he gave up 3 earned runs and only managed to muster up 5 Ks against their free-swinging lineup. Yusei Kikuchi also had a tough time against the Rangers offense, as he only found 4 Ks against them.
Thankfully, Cristopher Sanchez cashed our Over Ks prop on him at plus money. The lanky lefty looked dominant against the Giants, and he's currently sitting in 4th place in the National League Cy Young Award odds race.
It's time to shake it off and move on. Let's bounce back strong with 2 strikeout props for Tuesday, July 8th. Best of luck, my friends.
SEA at NYY - 7:05 PM EDT
This is way too cheap of a price on Gilbert, who has been pitching lights out since coming off of the IL. Sure, fading the Yanks' lineup is always scary, but keep in mind that they also own the 7th-highest K-rate in MLB against righties. Guys like Giancarlo Stanton and Jazz Chisholm have a tendency to swing at bad balls out of the strike zone.
Gilbert has outstanding stuff, and his slider is one of the best in the American League. The Yanks have struggled against the slider for most of 2025, as they rank just 19th against that pitch. You've got to love it when a guy's pitch mix gives him an edge, and that's exactly what we're getting with Gilbert tonight.
Seven NYY hitters fan at least 24% of the time, and none of these guys have seen Gilbert's stuff this season. This should work in our favor tonight in the Bronx. Gilbert has racked up 7 or more strikeouts in 8 of his 10 starts this season, so look for the big righty to dominate in this one.
MIA at CIN - 7:10 PM EDT
We're getting Perez at a huge discount tonight on the road, mainly because the Marlins have been very careful with his pitch count so far this season. However, this is a great spot to back a young fireballer like Perez, who has a very live arm that allows him to touch 100 mph on the gun at times with his fastball.
Pitching in the cracker box known as Great American Ball Park won't be easy, but Perez should feast against a Cincy lineup that has the 5th-highest strikeout rate in MLB vs. righties. The Reds also own the 10th-lowest contact rate in baseball.
My main concern with this play is that Perez could only go 5 innings tonight against Cincy. Even still, I can't pass on this play because the matchup is so good. Six Reds hitters strike out at least 23% of the time, so I'll roll with Eury to get us at least six punchouts.
