Happy Monday, baseball fans! Another Monday gets us that much closer to the All-Star Break, as we have less than two weeks to go until the festivities kick off in Atlanta. Teams are making their final pushes leading up to the midway point in the year, including all 16 teams that will battle tonight.
We’ve taken a look at all of the matchups for today and decided to focus our efforts on the last game of the evening between the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Without further ado, let’s get into our favorite Underdog player props from the action!
Don’t overthink this one. We know the Diamondbacks don’t strike out that much, having the seventh-lowest rate among MLB clubs this year, but Logan Webb has been pitching too well this year to fade.
He has had 6+ strikeouts in five of his last six games and has the fifth-highest K rate of any pitcher in the league. Webb might have a bad game here or there, but we’re not expecting tonight to be one of those nights, so we’re taking the over on his K total.
We might be high on Webb coming into this game, but we’re out on Ryne Nelson, the Diamondbacks’ starter. Nelson began the year as a relief pitcher, but due to some injuries and a depleted roster, the Diamondbacks have been using him as a starter.
He has had some up and down performances this year, but has only made it to the fifth inning four times. With that in mind, we can’t trust him to stay in the game for very long tonight, and as a result, we’re fading his pitching outs total.
This is our favorite prop of the night. Ketel Marte might be one of the Diamondbacks’ best hitters, but his career history leaves something to be desired.
He’s had 27 plate appearances against Webb, only going 5-24 with two doubles, one homer, and two singles. Marte has also struck out eight times against Webb, a pitcher who seems to have his number.
We’re not confident in him getting on base for any reason besides a walk, so we’re taking the under on his TB total tonight.
