Who doesn’t love afternoon baseball?
There are eight day games Saturday, most as part of the new 7-inning doubleheaders, which I also love, and we got picks all day (and night) for you.
Friday was good: Two wins, a rainout, and a home run by Luis Robert. Let’s do the same Saturday.
Minnesota Twins at Detroit Tigers, 1:10 p.m. (Game One)
Pitchers: Randy Dobnak vs. Matt Boyd
Odds: Twins -145; Tigers +135
Oakland A's at Houston Astros, 4:10 p.m. (Game One)
Pitchers: Chris Bassitt vs. Lance McCullers
Odds: As +105; Astros -125
San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies, 8:10 p.m.
Pitchers: Adrian Morejon vs. Antonio Senzatela
Odds: Padres -130; Rockies +110
Single: The Twins/Tigers is a do-over for us from Thursday night. It was postponed for protest, rescheduled for Friday and then rained out. I still like Dobnak, one of the best stories of the year and don’t like Boyd. Take the Twins.
Double: Anther do-over is the A's/Astros, which got rained out Friday night. And once again I like Bassitt a lot more than I do McCullers. So. . .Take the A's.
Triple: This is a fresh wager for you. The Rockies have been up and down all season. But Senzatela has been good with a 3-1 record and a decent ERA. He’s been especially good the past two years against the Padres (7-1, 3.10 ERA). Morejon is a top prospect, but isn’t there yet and could get rocked at Coors Field. Take the Rockies.
Home Run: Let’s go with Oakland’s Stephen Piscotty and Colorado’s Nolan Arenado to hit home runs Saturday.
