Good morning racing fans! We are a little more than three weeks out from Breeders Cup 2022 at Keeneland and after watching prep races over these last few weeks, it’s looking like we’ll be treated to some really spectacular races. In the meantime to whet everyone’s appetite for Keeneland racing I’ve handicapped a few for Wednesday’s card. So far for 2022 we’re showing an overall flat net profit at Keeneland and I’m honing in on the types of races that have been most profitable for us. We’re expecting fast & firm conditions beneath cloudy skies. I generally don’t give out 4 picks on a Wednesday but I’m feeling lucky.
Let’s get to work!
Wednesday at Keeneland:
Race 7: American Blaze - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)
Two year olds race a mile and a sixteenth on dirt in this allowance optional claiming event which should feature a ton of early pace. American Blaze broke his maiden by 17 lengths at Ellis Park before losing to a very impressive Lost Ark in the Sapling at Monmouth. Major Dude returned from that race to win the Pilgrim at Aqueduct. Trainer Ben Colebrook generally does very well here at Keeneland with his two year olds, winning at a rate of 20% (6 for 30) with an average payoff of a generous $34.41. He uses jockey Luis Saez in this spot and together they’ve won with 6 of 17 starters over the last five years here at Keeneland for a win percentage of 35%. He’s been working well right here at Keeneland since June so he should have no trouble with the surface and might sit the right trip just off the speed.
Best of luck to all our members playing Wednesday’s races from Keeneland!
