We’re back with another exciting week of racing from Saratoga. I’ll be there live and in person from Thursday through Sunday and I couldn’t be more excited after missing it last year due to the COVID shutdown. We expect fast and firm conditions for most of this week. Let’s get started with some Wednesday racing action:
Wednesday picks for Saratoga:
Race 5: Funwhileitlasted - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/2)
We begin the week with a one mile race for 3yo fillies bred in New York racing on turf and our likely favorite - Sport Model is likely to receive pace pressure from two outside runners. The strongest closer in the field is Funwhileitlasted and she didn’t get a ton of pace to close into last time but should get more today for a barn that doesn’t always attract play.
Race 7: Montauk Daddy - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 8/5)
Turf sprinters line up here and I’d love to pick a longshot in every race but at odds of 8/5, Montauk Daddy offers good value. From a pace standpoint he looks the fastest early here by a wide margin and he’s kept good company so he’s got the class. Add onto that a 29% winning trainer and Irad Ortiz, one of the top riders in the world, and you’ve got yourself a formidable BEST BET breaking from the inside.

Race 9: Bodecream - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 7/2)
Allowance runners race a mile and an eighth on the turf and most of the attention will likely go to the inside runner - En Wye Cee with a few gaudy grass speed figures but he’s likely to get pace pressure from several others in here. If that’s the case, Bodecream has a decided pace advantage as he owns the fields strongest closing punch. A 30% trainer paired up with a top rider in Tyler Gaffalione adds to the appeal.
Race 10: Come Storming - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)
Starter allowance runners race on turf to close out the race card and I normally limit our selections to three on a weekday but at 12/1 I didn’t want to miss an opportunity at a score. Come Storming is 4 for 5 in the money at this distance and picks up top turf rider Joel Rosario after being ridden by lower percentage riders in his last few starts. Come Storming appears to have the strongest closing kick in a race laden with speed.
Best of luck 🍀🍀🍀🍀 to everyone playing Wednesday’s races from Saratoga !!
