Wednesday’s Recap from Keeneland:

(All odds listed below are US paramutual odds )

For Keeneland race replays from April 7th, please click here.

Race 1: SCRATCH

Race 3: 3rd@ 6.20-1

Race 5: 7th@ 10.90-1

Race 7: 1st@ 2.00-1 - BEST BET 🔥🔥🔥🔥

(This was the only individual replay available)

We kicked the week off with our Race 1 selection - Kaufymaker - injuring himself in the paddock and scratching. In Race 3, Mulsanne gave a good account of herself but was left with too much to do late after the eventual winner was able to slow down the pace. In Race 5, Wolfbane sat close to the pace but folded up her tent once the real running began and we closed out the day with our BEST BET selection, Pocket Square, mowing them down in the stretch. This looks like a filly with stakes races in her future.

I don’t love Thursday’s race card from Keeneland so let’s take a look at some races from Gulfstream Park where skies should be sunny. We expect fast and firm conditions.

Thursday Picks

Gulfstream Park:

Race 3: Comiskey Park - 2 pts win - BEST BET (Morning Line Odds: 3-1)

Lower-level maiden claimers line up here and I’ll start by acknowledging that speed is a very dangerous weapon in dirt sprint races at Gulfstream Park. Based on his previous races, there doesn’t appear to be anyone fast enough to challenge Comiskey Park early. His most recent speed figure is faster than almost anyone in this field has run on dirt so he has that regency edge. In viewing the replay of his most recent start, Comiskey Park continued to fight on despite being outrun by Blakenstein in the lane. Anything close to that 3-1 morning line odds would be terrific value. Formidable.

Race 5: Gun of Glory - 1 pt win (Morning Line odds 3-1)

Maiden claimers run a mile and an eighth on turf here and speed kills on the Gulfstream Park turf course. Gun of Glory has good speed but was rated last time and still ran on well. Jockey Paco Lopez has been riding well lately and this runner’s top speed figures have come over this distance at this track. Catch him to cash!

Race 7: Fuego Caliente - 1 pt win (Morning Line Odds: 5-1)

Followers of the US Racing Expert know we’ve thrown plenty of money at Fuego Caliente but today he drops in class and gets a positive rider change to Paco Lopez. Upon breaking his maiden, Fuego Caliente put up a rock solid speed figure - and appeared faster than his numbers gave him credit for. In his next start, jockey Corey Lanerie gave him a poor ride and actually apologized to the trainer after the race saying he thought this one had some talent. In his most recent start he had no choice but to be close to a slow pace and that compromised his closing kick, but he still put up a fast closing figure of 11.61.

Best of luck 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 to all our members playing races from Gulfstream Park on Thursday!!
