SmartCap and RT pick Tuesday's $55K Cherokee Nation Classic Cup Stakes, the 9th at Will Rogers Downs

RT

On a personal note, I am feeling bad for my son and future daughter-in-law as they attempt to cobble together their wedding at the end of the month. It has been nothing short of FUBAR. So, Eleanor and Thomas, I love you guys and as your grandfather used to say, “there’s nothing in this mess that money can’t fix.”

Spring Steen tried to wire the filed yesterday and Ty Kennedy was probably arm weary after that wrestling match. Since there is a speed bias, she ran out of gas in deep stretch and was passed by Lady Orchid, as called by my esteemed contemporary, Chris Garrity, @belmostickey, called.

Yesterday, we had $6 bet and $7.60 returned for a net of $1.60. To date, $305 bet $325.30 returned for a net of $20.30 or a 6.25% roi.

Today we have the one mile and a sixteenth, $55K Cherokee Nation Classic Cup Stakes from Bill’s Place (editor: The 9th race at Will Rogers Downs) in Claremore, OK. This is for statie colts and gelding that are 3yo+.

Using Equibase figures with SmartCap, we have derived the #3 Gospel Cherokey (20/1) with best overall class, #11 United Patriot (5/2) as best overall speed and best cumulative last two. #7 Gospel Musketeer (12/1) has best last, United Patriot has best race in two back and Gospel Cherokey has best race three back with #6 Quality Rocket (4/1) an awfully close second for that race.

For money -

#1 Kirk Of Diamonds (6/1) is $6.9K per race at WRD

#12 Catale Storm (30/1) is $6.8K per race at WRD

#2 Dak Da Man (10/1) along with United Patriot are $6.4K per at WRD

This year, Dak Da Man is best at $5.6K

For lifetime earnings, Gospel Musketeer is best with $14.3K per (although only five races and versus state breds only) and United Patriot has $9.2K per.

Since there are not unequivocal numbers that jump out, and there as many reasons to go with a horse as there are reasons not to, I am going with #2 Dak Da Man, who is coming off a win three weeks ago. Trainer Kari Craddock has both the Kirk Of Diamonds and Dak Da Man in this race and Dak retains one of WRD’s leading route riders, Leandro Goncalves.
