Atlantic City: Borgata bets $14 million more on property upgrades, additions

One of the main reasons Borgata Hotel & Spa has been the Atlantic City gaming-industry market-leader since it opened in 2003 is its annual eight-figure investment in renovation and expansion projects.

Earlier this summer, the bayside entertainment complex christened Moneyline, its built-from-scratch, $12 million sports book and the adjacent Level One bar. Wednesday morning, it announced two more projects that come with a combined $14 million price tag.

The first part of the plan is the creation of the Lobby Bar, which is scheduled to start pouring later this month. The 1,700-square-foot saloon will boast three large-screen televisions, coffee service featuring Lavazza products, and a curated tapas and cocktail menu. A Borgata press release described the boite’s interior design as “a fresh take on classic Art Deco with lyrical undertones in a polished speakeasy ambiance.” On weekends, the cocktail lounge will add music to its menu by transforming into a piano bar.

The Lobby Bar will also house a new VIP check-in station.

Upstairs, the Big B will be doing a makeover on its 312 Fiore Suites. The premium rooms will be given a nautical-themed décor with a palette of blues and neutral tones. Each suite will include a custom entertainment center featuring stone countertops, gold-dusted sconces and USB charging ports. Occupancy is expected early next year.
