The Pick: Connecticut -5.5 (-112), bet $11.20 to win $10
This season, you would’ve almost broken even betting the WNBA if you just blindly went with underdogs - they went 116-107-3 against the spread (52%). But you would’ve done even better just blindly betting on the away team: 119-104-3 (53.4%). Those are the two stats I’ve been looking at trying to make a decision for this game, and ultimately even though Dallas is a feisty team and a home dog tonight, the line coming down to 5.5 is enough for me to go with the Sun. As feisty as Dallas is, I don’t trust them in a Game Three. Not that they won’t fight - they will. But they haven’t really been here before, and Connecticut has. I’m also going against the conventional wisdom a bit. The line started at Sun -7 and has come down 1.5 points. If it were Dallas +7, I would’ve taken it. But it’s come down to the range where I think the Sun will handle it. I expect a tight game with Connecticut pulling away late. They’re the better team and have more experience.
