Washington Mystics at Indiana Fever, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Indiana +11.5 (-120), bet $5 to win $4.17
I’ll stick with the “taking double-digit spreads with Indiana at home, please” even though it’s not as sure-fire to me as it used to be. Washington is pretty locked into that fourth spot in the WNBA playoff seedings, so I can’t imagine they’re gonna go that hard tonight. The Fever are bad but they play hard, especially at home, so I’ll put a small taste on them to cover.
New York Liberty at Atlanta Dream, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Atlanta +2 (-113), bet $7.50 to win $6.68
This line mystifies me. Though they’re in a virtual tie for the eighth and final playoff spot, I think Atlanta’s improving with every game. Besides that, they’re at home having lost two straight so they will be putting the pedal to the metal tonight. Home dog, take it.
Seattle Storm at Minnesota Lynx, 9 pm Eastern
The Pick: Seattle -1 (-112), bet $5 to win $4.50
Seattle’s defense gives up almost six fewer points per game than Minnesota’s. The Storm have already beaten the Lynx three times this year, and Minnesota is not good at home, only 7-10. Although both Lynx center Sylvia Fowles and Storm guard Sue Bird are making their last run at things, I think Bird has the supporting cast and the still-hopeful idea of making noise in the playoffs. Fowles is an all-time great, but doesn’t have a team that knows how to win around her.
Dallas Wings at Phoenix Mercury, 10 pm Eastern
The Pick: Phoenix +1.5 (-115), bet $5 to win $4.35
Dallas has been playing too well lately. Even though I picked against them on Wednesday, it’s not enough – they have to lay an egg sometime. Tonight will be the night. Phoenix has to have this game if they’re to have any shot at the postseason, while the Wings are in. Yeah, I can smell the lackluster performance brewing. Home dog again, please.
