Indiana Fever at Dallas Wings, 8 pm Eastern
The Pick: Indiana +11.5 (-115), bet $5 to win $4.35
I am tempted to pick Dallas here, just because I think they might have turned a corner with their win over the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday and will no longer play down to their competition. But getting double digits is getting double digits, and I’m not ready to elevate Dallas with my brain just yet - only my heart. I think the Wings win but it’s a cruising victory and the Fever stay pretty close.
New York Liberty at Phoenix Mercury, 10 pm Eastern
The Pick: Phoenix +1.5 (-124), bet $5 to win $4.03
I’m not going to put too much down on this, in part because the lines I see range from the Mercury getting points to giving points, so I don’t even think this line will be around long. But I found it when I found it, and I’ll take a home dog that really will be playing for one of their teammates. Brittney Griner was sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison this week, and regardless of what you think of the situation, it’s easy to think the rest of her Phoenix squad will be hyped to keep her name in people’s mouths. Phoenix is at home, they’re playing for their postseason lives, and their star is locked up in a political tug-of-war. I’m betting the Mercury show up tonight.
