Phoenix Mercury at Connecticut Sun, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Phoenix +10.5 (-123), bet $6.15 to win $5
I’ll pay a hefty price to get double digits, here. Phoenix, for all their chaos this year, is tied for the final playoff spot. I know, I barely believe it myself. However they got here, what that means is they’re not throwing in the towel. Connecticut has already clinched a spot and thus has less to play for. Making the playoffs (and then, seeding) will be what drives my thought process for picks until the postseason arrives.
Las Vegas Aces at Dallas Wings, 8 pm Eastern
The Pick: Dallas +8.5 (-112), bet $7.50 to win $6.70
(shrug) Home dog that has a lot more to play for than the favorite. As I’ve said over and over, Dallas needs every win it can get in order to solidify a playoff spot. Las Vegas has less to play for right now. The Wings’ point differential this season is only -0.2, and they actually give up fewer points per game than the Aces. Tonight’s game will be close enough.
