Seattle Storm at Washington Mystics, 12 noon Eastern
The pick: Washington -160, bet $7.50 to win $4.69
These teams are dead even, each with an 18-11 record, fighting to stay in the top four of the league when the playoffs start. So I’m going with the home team. Washington is 9-4 in their own building, and Seattle has a losing record (6-7) on the road. The Mystics have won three in a row, and truth be told, I think they’re better than the Storm. I think they think it too. I’ll pay a price to not have to worry about laying 3.5 points.
Dallas Wings at Atlanta Dream, 7:30 pm Eastern
The Pick: Dallas -110, bet $10 to win $9.09
Don’t look now, but Atlanta is only a half-game behind Dallas for the eighth and final playoff spot. So this game is huge. The Dream is ahead of where most of us thought they would be, and I think if this game were next year, they’d win easily. But they need to learn to win these games, and I think tonight will be a lesson. Dallas, as maddening as they can be, has been here before – most of this year (and last year too, as a matter of fact). I think the Wings in general beat the teams they’re supposed to beat, while Atlanta has dropped three straight and may have exhausted themselves during their recent road trip. The Dream are the team I will be irrational about next season; Dallas is the one I’m irrational about now.
