Los Angeles Sparks at Dallas Wings, 8 pm Eastern
The Pick: Dallas -188, bet $14.11 to win $7.50; Dallas -4.5 (-105), bet $5 to win $4.76
On June 19, Dallas was favored at home over Los Angeles by four, and won by 10. I don’t really think anything’s changed in the last twelve days to not pick Dallas again, even if the spread has inched up a half-point. The Sparks’ defense continues to be horrible, second-worst in the league and only ahead of Indiana. The Wings have a losing record, but it’s just under .500 at 9-11 and I still think they’re going to challenge come playoff time. I do not feel the same way about the Sparks. L.A. did win at home by a bucket but I think they’re even less consistent than Dallas. And Dallas is better offensively. They take care of business at home tonight. Take the moneyline for dinner, lay the points for dessert.
Las Vegas Aces at Minnesota Lynx, 8 pm Eastern
The Pick: Las Vegas -184, bet $13.81 to win $7.50; Las Vegas -4.5 (-104), bet $5 to win $4.81
Las Vegas had to sweat out a one-point victory over Minnesota on June 19. Something tells me that Head Coach Becky Hammon has brought this up a time or two in the past couple days. The Aces have dropped three of four games, and are now merely tied for the best record in the WNBA. I imagine Hammon might have brought these factoids up as well. Las Vegas has the best offensive rating in the league; they won’t be denied tonight. Moneyline, dinner; cover, dessert.
Indiana Fever at Seattle Storm, 10 pm Eastern
The Pick: Indiana +12 (-113), bet $5.62 to win $5
I’m not gonna put down too much on Indiana tonight; I think the rookies are starting to fade a little bit and Seattle has won two of its last three at home by more than double-digits. But the spread is too high, and in between those two wins, the Storm dropped a game to Los Angeles. So I think there’s a good chance they’ll take the Fever lightly enough that the game is reasonably close. Also, Indiana does have an advantage on the boards, averaging 34.3 rebounds per game to Seattle’s 32.2. I see a game where the Storm cruise but are content to win by single-digits.
