Las Vegas Aces at Dallas Wings, 1 pm Eastern
The Pick: Dallas +8.5 (-118), bet $10 to win $8.47
Way too many points to be giving Dallas at home. I think Las Vegas is the best team in the WNBA, to be sure. But Dallas is 8-5 against the spread and they played the Aces to a reasonable six-point game in Las Vegas on June 5. The Wings’ offensive rating is only 6.1 points behind the Aces’, and scoring guard Marina Mabrey is probable tonight, coming off her COVID quarantine. Dallas has lost three in a row, but by an average margin of four points, and both losses to Seattle should’ve been wins, if you ask me. They’ll hang around tonight.
Atlanta Dream at Connecticut Sun, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Connecticut -8.5 (-118), bet $10 to win $8.47
Courtney Williams Revenge Game. Williams was let go by Atlanta in the offseason after embarrassing footage of her in a fight near a food truck surfaced. (shrug) Hate to say it, but the kind of energy that prompts someone to fight near a food truck is the same kind of energy that strives to stick it to the team that just released you. Williams’ release might’ve been the right move, but she’s a great scorer with an attitude, and she’ll be primed to make the Dream pay tonight. Atlanta has improved but they’re not in the Sun’s orbit (sorry), and Connecticut will spend tonight at home making sure everyone knows it.
Phoenix Mercury at Indiana Fever, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Indiana -112, bet $10 to win $8.93
Tonight, Phoenix is playing the second game of a road back-to-back. They lost last night to Washington, who scored 83 points on 39.3% shooting from the three-point line. Indiana’s coming off a nice win in Minnesota on Sunday. I think Fever coach Carlos Knox has his team’s attention, and will challenge them to take care of business at home. I’ll pay a bit extra not to worry about the 1.5 point spread.
