Phoenix Mercury at Washington Mystics, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Phoenix +7.5 (-113), bet $8.43 to win $7.50
Phoenix lost by 9 points to Washington on Sunday, but it was pretty close throughout. Also, Mystic star Elena Delle Donne is questionable tonight with a bad back. Even if Delle Donne plays, I suspect the Mercury will have a good go with a second bite at the apple. Phoenix is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, while Washington is 1-4. Finally, Phoenix did make the WNBA Finals last season. I think they’ve got pride and will make tonight a close game.
Seattle Storm at Minnesota Lynx, 9 pm Eastern
The Pick: Seattle -5.5 (-114), bet $8.56 to win $7.50
I’ve had my gripes about Seattle, to be sure. But they beat Minnesota by 23 on May 6, and I don’t think the Lynx have gotten much better. Minnesota is 3-11 and continues to test my faith in their ability to turn it around. It’s getting to be too late. The Storm are 8-5, which is disappointing, but still good enough to encourage them to really take this stretch by, well, storm. Ugh - I didn’t know that sentence was going to end that way. But it’s true. Seattle needs to start winning games it should win, and this is one they should win. They’ve got more talent top-to-bottom than the Lynx, and just came off two tough games against the Wings. I think they cruise tonight.
