Los Angeles Sparks at Indiana Fever, 3 pm Eastern
The Pick: Indiana +6.5 (-115), bet $11.50 to win $10
Even though Indiana disappointed me on Friday, failing to cover against Washington, and even though Los Angeles disappointed me on Friday, covering against Chicago, I’m gonna bet on the Fever and fade the Sparks today. Indiana is at home, and while they spent most of the time on Friday down by double-digits to the Mystics, there was a stretch where they fought back to within eight, further convincing me that they play hard no matter where they are in the game. The Sparks may be better than they were last year, but this is their second game on the road and I think they’ll come down a little after a big overtime win against the defending champs.
Washington Mystics at Minnesota Lynx, 8 pm Eastern
The Pick: Minnesota -182, bet $9.10 to win $5
I’ll pay a rather large price to just get a straight win for Minnesota, who did not show up well in their opener at Seattle. The loss of Napheesa Collier will be tough for the Lynx, but I still think with Sylvia Fowles, they’re going to have the advantage in the middle against most teams. This is Minnesota’s home opener and I like them to rebound from Friday’s blowout to the Storm.
Seattle Storm at Las Vegas Aces, 10 pm Eastern
The Pick: Seattle +5.5 (-115), bet $11.50 to win $10
Both of these teams showed big offenses in their opening games; Seattle scored 97 against Minnesota and Las Vegas topped the century mark against Phoenix with 106. So there’s a lot of firepower in this marquee matchup. More importantly, these are the two top teams in the WNBA’s Western Conference, and they know it. They’ll both be playing their best today. The Storm and the Aces have split their last ten games against each other, with an average spread of less than four points. I think that holds today.
