WNBA Playoffs Wednesday: O'Sullivan tries to figure out Sun vs Sky, Aces vs Mercury – Can Vegas stop Griner?

Connecticut Sun at Chicago Sky, 8 pm Eastern

The Pick: Connecticut +4.5 (-105)

Connecticut either wins tonight or they go home, which would be a huge disappointment after the season they’ve had. Although Chicago really has outplayed them in this series, the Sun had a chance to steal Game 3. Briann January had a wide-open layup to give Connecticut the lead late but rushed it (and went reverse for some reason). The Sky have been the better team this series, but the Sun lay it all on the line tonight. Even if they don’t force a Game 5, they cover.

Las Vegas Aces at Phoenix Mercury, 10 pm Eastern

The Pick: Phoenix -1.5 (+102)

Sunday’s game was a repeat for the Las Vegas Aces and just as embarrassing – to them and to me. Phoenix is playing like they want it more – much, much more. I would use the same reasoning as in the Connecticut/Chicago game – that Las Vegas has to lay it all on the line tonight to force a Game 5. But watching Sunday, I just don’t see it. The Aces have no answer for Brittney Griner and are shooting horrifically from the field (30.9% on Sunday). I simply don’t see them digging deep tonight; the last two games have been demoralizing – for them and me. The Mercury go to the Finals.
