WNBA Sunday: O'Sullivan picks Dream at Sun, Aces at Mercury, Lynx at Mystics, Sparks at Wings, Fever at Sky

Had a nice 4-2 day on Friday (which, you know, given I made clear my “home dog” parlay pick was only to be the cherry on the sundae, was more like a 4-1.175, but (shrug). Let’s make today’s slate of five games a good note for us to end on heading into the postseason.

Atlanta Dream at Connecticut Sun, 1 pm EDT

The Pick: Connecticut -13.0 (-110)

I don’t think Connecticut is going to take their foot off the gas even though they’ve clinched the top seed. They’re playing too well. I think they’ve got a chip on their shoulder too, as the hype has been going to the Western Conference’s top squads. And as I’ve been saying, you gotta keep riding what’s winning for you.

Las Vegas Aces at Phoenix Mercury, 3 pm EDT

The Pick: Phoenix +3.5 (-105)

(shrug) Home dog alert. Both teams are locked into their seeds. Even if Liz Cambage plays, Brittney Griner will outplay her. With my pick, I almost want Cambage to play.

Minnesota Lynx at Washington Mystics, 3 pm EDT

The Pick: Washington +5.5 (-110)

Minnesota doesn’t need to win this, and Washington does, badly. If the Mystics win, they’re in. That should be enough to at least keep this close.

Los Angeles Sparks at Dallas Wings, 5 pm EDT

The Pick: Dallas -162

I mean, Los Angeles needs this more than Dallas does. But I just don’t like how the Sparks play, and the Wings are 100% in my head at this point. I’m almost at a George Constanza “I will do the opposite,” with Dallas. I do think they’re better than Los Angeles…but you should take my mental discombobulation into account before following this pick…

Indiana Fever at Chicago Sky, 6 pm EDT

The Pick: Indiana +12.5 (-114)

Too many points here, and Chicago isn’t a team like Connecticut, where they focus and take care of business. I think the Sky will win, but it’ll be sloppy enough for the professional Fever, whom I do admire, to get the cover.
