WNBA Friday: O'Sullivan picks Dream at Mystics, Fever at Lynx, as home teams have must-win games

Atlanta Dream at Washington Mystics, 7 pm EDT, Indiana Fever at Minnesota Lynx, 8 pm.

Ahh, so that was a nice, relaxing game to watch last night, and get back on track with two wins. The Sun-Sparks game was so relaxing, in fact, I had a chance to turn in to the Cowboys-Buccaneers game just in time to watch Chris Godwin fumble away my Tampa Bay cover in the red zone. My torment, never, ends…

Seattle O’Sullivan so far: 117-96-1

Moneyline Parlay: Washington (-230)/Minnesota (-700) - True Price: -156

Atlanta Dream at Washington Mystics, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Washington -5.0 (-110)

Washington is a half-game out of a playoff spot, trailing New York but with a game in hand. Hey, Mystics - this is that game. They just got blown out by 30+ at Seattle which is understandable as the Storm are in the WNBA’s upper tier. But I can’t imagine a situation where a team would be more amped to give it all they’ve got than tonight against the second-worst team in the league. Atlanta’s 1-9 in their last ten (though they probably should’ve won on Wednesday). But the Mystics are 8-2 against them in the last ten matchups between the teams. Odyssey Sims is out for the Dream. I repeat: hey Mystics - this is that game.

Indiana Fever at Minnesota Lynx, 8 pm Eastern

The Pick: Minnesota -700, Minnesota -11.0 (-110)

Minnesota blew a real opportunity when they got blown out by over twenty by Las Vegas on Monday. I’m not talking about the chance to secure a playoff bye; I’m talking about making me look good to all of you. The Lynx embarrassed me, and I hope they were just as mortified. Probably not, huh? Well, that’s disappointing. I’m still picking them tonight. They’re a half-game behind Phoenix for the fourth seed and a bye but with a game in hand. Hey, Minnesota - this is that game. (sigh) Minnesota has a solid record against the spread at home: 9-4-1. Indiana plays hard but, more importantly, is a bad team. Truly, if the Lynx want to be a contender for the WNBA championship, they need to start playing games that prove it. This is that game.
