WNBA Tuesday: O'Sullivan picks Connecticut Sun at Dallas Wings, Washington Mystics at Seattle Storm

Connecticut Sun at Dallas Wings, 8 pm EDT, Washington Mystics at Seattle Storm, 10 pm EDT.

I’m now at a point where even contemplating making a pick on a Dallas Wings triggers an anxiety attack in my chest. But you guys rely on me to spare you my traumas, stare these games down, face my fears, and give you the picks that will help you pay your mortgage.* So I’ll stand tall…

Seattle O’Sullivan so far: 113-91-1

Moneyline Parlay: Connecticut (-450)/Seattle (-520) - true price -219

Connecticut Sun at Dallas Wings, 8 pm EDT

The Pick: Dallas +8.5 (-110)

…and try to “middle” this game with a moneyline parlay like a complete square. I can’t help it. The Sun are playing the best of any team in the WNBA, and they’ve won nine in a row, but they’re only 7-6-1 against the spread on the road. Dallas has two teams (New York and Washington) a mere 1.5 games behind them in that final playoff spot. They need this game more than Connecticut. The Sun burned them (sorry) 80-59 in Dallas just three weeks ago in a game where the Wings turned the ball over 19 times. I’d like to believe the Wings have some pride, here. I don’t think they’re good enough to beat the Sun, but it’s a “home dog.” I know, I sound pathetic. I still think I can “middle” it. (shrug) My therapist was off for Labor Day.

Washington Mystics at Seattle Storm, 10 pm EDT

The Pick: Washington +9.5 (-114)

You don’t like “middles?” Why not try two? Tina Charles returned to the Mystics on Saturday, and her team needs her desperately if they’re to have any chance to make the WNBA playoffs. Right now they’re in a virtual tie for the eighth seed with New York, who don’t play again until Saturday. So the Mystics have got to lay it all on the line tonight. I don’t think they’re good enough to beat the Storm. But Seattle is 3-12 this year against the spread at home; that’s gross. It’s as if they don’t even care about the spread or something. Seattle’s playing for seeding, while Washington’s playing for its playoff life. That’s a “middle” to me.

*Uh, I hope that’s not true. Please tell me that’s not true.
