WNBA Tuesday: O'Sullivan picks Sparks at Mystics, Aces at Sun, Storm at Lynx, Sky at Dream

Los Angeles Sparks at Washington Mystics, 7 pm EDT, Las Vegas Aces at Connecticut Sun, 7 pm, Seattle Storm at Minnesota Lynx, 7 pm, Chicago Sky at Atlanta Dream, 7 pm.

Seattle O’Sullivan so far: 84-73-1

Los Angeles Sparks at Washington Mystics, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Washington (-145)

Los Angeles has won four in a row, and Washington has lost four in a row, and the Sparks won the last matchup with Washington on June 24. But that was in Los Angeles. In their last game in Washington, the Mystics trounced the Sparks by 18. Washington is 4-2 in their last six at home. The Sparks won a tough one on Sunday, and I think they’ll let down a little tonight.

Las Vegas Aces at Connecticut Sun, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Las Vegas +2.5 (-110)

Connecticut has won the last two matchups against Las Vegas, and that’s why I’m going with the underdog tonight. Right now, these are the top two records in the WNBA. But more importantly, the Aces are in a tight battle with Seattle Storm for the top spot in the West; they’ll battle their hardest tonight. I think the Aces offense trumps the Sun’s defense tonight.

Seattle Storm at Minnesota Lynx, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Minnesota +3.5 (-105)

Minnesota has dropped two of their last three games, but they were both at Connecticut. I think the Lynx have a decided advantage in the frontcourt with Sylvia Fowles, and they need to start winning if they’re going to hold off the surging Phoenix Mercury to hold the #4 spot for the playoffs. They’re a home dog tonight, so I think they put it all on the line.

Chicago Sky at Atlanta Dream, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Chicago (-250), Atlanta +6.5 (-115)

Atlanta’s lost eight in a row; yikes. But it’s a little deceptive; I think they should’ve won both of their tight losses to Los Angeles. I think the Sky is the better team, but I think the Dream do fight, so I’ll go for the middle here…and roll my eyes at myself tomorrow.
