WNBA Tuesday: O'Sullivan picks Lynx vs Sun, Wings vs Sky, Mystics vs Aces, Fever vs Mercury, Dream vs Sparks

Minnesota Lynx at Connecticut Sun, 7 pm EDT, Dallas Wings at Chicago Sky, 8 pm, Washington Mystics at Las Vegas Aces, 10 pm, Indiana Fever at Phoenix Mercury, 10 pm, ATL Dream at LA Sparks, 10:30 pm.

I’m a tasty 6-2 since the WNBA has picked back up, so let’s continue the deliciousness…

Seattle O’Sullivan so far: 78-62-1

Minnesota Lynx at Connecticut Sun, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Minnesota +3.5 (-110)

Minnesota struggled against the New York Liberty on Sunday to win its eighth game in a row . . . but it did win its eighth game in a row. Part of the issue was, the Lynx were incorporating forward Natalie Achonwa, returning from a knee injury and the Olympics, back into the lineup. It wasn’t smooth on Sunday; it’ll be better tonight. Connecticut is first in the WNBA in defense, while Minnesota is fourth. Minnesota is fourth in offense . . . while Connecticut is ninth. The Lynx won’t be afraid of the Sun; they’ve split the last ten games, 5-5.

Dallas Wings at Chicago Sky, 8 pm Eastern

The Pick: Dallas +6.5 (-115), Chicago (-265)

Dallas and I had taken a much-needed break. We reconnected on Sunday for coffee, "just to talk," with the hopes that the time off would make both of us commit a little harder to a more peaceful relationship. I still believe that the Wings are tremendous when they’re at their best. Well, Dallas did not keep up its end of the bargain, getting shellacked by Connecticut. So I’m gonna ignore its texts for a while. But (sigh) I won’t completely ghost, only because the Sky is 3-7 against the spread at home. No, like every foolish lover in history, I’m gonna try to have it both ways with a “middle.” I like the Sky to win but Dallas to play up to the competition and cover the spread.

Washington Mystics at Las Vegas Aces, 10 pm Eastern

Indiana Fever at Phoenix Mercury, 10 pm Eastern

The Pick: Parlay - Las Vegas (-475) with Indiana +9.5 (-110)

True price (+131)

The Aces did not deserve to win on Sunday, having to come back from a 21-point deficit and needing Chelsea Gray to hit a shot in the final seconds to pull it off. Hopefully, that was a wake-up call for them. I’ll put them with Phoenix, who should handle a bad but scrappy Indiana Fever team. Phoenix is 4-9-1 against the spread in their last 14 games at home; that’s just bad. I know the Mercury handled business against the Dream, but the quick turnaround plays into what I’m convinced is their inability to stay focused. I’ll bet on it to make the Vegas pick a nice underdog taste.

Atlanta Dream at Los Angeles Sparks, 10:30 pm Eastern

The Pick: Atlanta +4.5 (-114)

Put simply, Los Angeles has the worst offense in the WNBA, which given that the Indiana Fever exist, is saying something. Going back to before the Olympic break, Atlanta has lost their last five games in a row, and just lost by 11 on Sunday. I think there are several mediocre teams in this league who play too scattered, inconsistent, and act like they’re better than they are, and the main culprit is Los Angeles. The best player on the floor is Dream guard Courtney Williams. I think she’ll keep it close tonight.
