3 More WNBA Tuesday Plays: O'Sullivan picks Sparks at Wings, Mercury at Sky, Fever at Storm

Los Angeles Sparks at Dallas Wings, 8 pm EDT, Phoenix Mercury at Chicago Sky, 8:30 pm EDT, Indiana Fever at Seattle Storm, 10:30 pm EDT.

Los Angeles Sparks at Dallas Wings, 8 pm EDT

The Pick: Under 167.5 (-105)

Seattle O’Sullivan so far: 0-0

Los Angeles comes into the game with both the lowest FG% (38.1) and PPG (74.5) in the league. That’s the bad news. The good news is they’ve only scored more than 80 points in a game twice this season. Wait, that’s also bad news. Dallas is averaging 90.4 PPG and gives up the most points (89.8), but the Sparks may not be able to take advantage. Adding to that, in the last matchup between the two teams the Wings blew out the Sparks 94 - 71, which would still be under this total. Dallas is also enduring a four-game losing streak. Expect more of a rock fight and a slower pace to keep the total under 167.5.

Phoenix Mercury at Chicago Sky, 8:30 pm EDT

The Pick: Sky -1.5 (-108)

Seattle O’Sullivan so far: 0-0

To this point in the season, both teams have done well against bad teams, and badly against good teams. So what happens when two mediocre teams face off? Favor the home team, of course. Except, in this case, Chicago is 0-4 at home, their last four games, in fact. However, Chicago gives up the 3rd-fewest points per game (79.0). Also, Sky star Candace Parker is back and rounding into form after a bruised ankle. Expect Chicago to finally break into the win column on their own floor.

Indiana Fever at Seattle Storm, 10:30 pm EDT

The Pick: Over 168.5 (-106)

Seattle O’Sullivan so far: 0-0

Seattle is a very good team, that scores a lot of points: 89.8 PPG, 3rd in the WNBA. The Storm has yet to score fewer than 80 points in a game this season. Seattle also gives up a lot of points: 85.5 PPG, 3rd “worst” in the league. I say “worst” because the Storm clearly “gives up” points by playing fast and having a great offense themselves. The Indiana Fever…well so far, they just give up a lot of points: 88.8 PPG, 2nd worst in the league (and I’ll leave out the quotation marks this time). They’ve given up over 100 points in their last two games, both against the Las Vegas Aces. As Seattle is at home and trying to stay ahead of Las Vegas, another century-note isn’t out of the question.
