Will Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig ever get back the form she showed in winning the Gold Medal at the 2016 Olympics in Singles? That was a rhetorical question. Pliskova will roll.

Kontaveit over Watson
The Brits will do everything possible to root Watson on, but to no avail. Kontaveit should win in two.

Woznicacki over Kudermetova
Wozniacki has historically laid one egg after another here in London. She should win this match, but get your kids ready to go out and search for eggs very soon.

Halep over Buzarnescu
Halep has had a very quiet Spring. I’d expect her to come out of her hibernation very soon. She won’t go away without making some noise.

Gauff over Rybarikova
If Gauff can beat Venus, she can beat Rybarikova. Do 15-year-olds get party hangovers? I doubt it.

Keys over Hercog
Keys could lose at any time, yet if she plays well she can beat anyone. I’m betting that Keys has at least another win in her.

Azarenka over Tomljanovic
I think Vika is close to being her old self. She has played well lately, but hasn’t gotten the signature win that would signal her arrival back at the top. But it’s coming….

Sevastova over Collins
This match should convince Collins that she’s not as good as she thinks she is. She’s ranked #25, thinks she should be in the Top Ten, but can’t beat anyone good.

Kenin over Yastremska
Yastremska is coming on, but Kenin is going faster and accelerating at the same time. A little confidence goes a long way, and it shows in the girl from Florida.

Sakkari over Bouzkova
Sakkari needs an easy win to get back her confidence. This should do it.

Martic over Potapova
Martic has had a wonderful Spring and her game responds to the grass really well. Potapova is a teenager with one Wimby behind her, but has yet to get a quality win. She’ll have to wait another year for that.
