What is going on with Derby County?

Well, the Rams just about escaped the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone in the final minutes of the 2020-21 season, although that came with some controversy. Derby County has a points deduction hanging over the club before its new season begins Saturday against Huddersfield Town, and the Rams have been struggling to field a full senior starting XI in the preseason.

It could be a long year for Wayne Rooney and the Rams.

Now, there could be some players signed by Derby County Friday that make the squad Saturday: until the lineups are announced at 9 a.m., we will not know who the starting XI will be for the Rams. But I expect it to be weak, and Huddersfield Town could take advantage.
