Premier League battles heat up, as teams turn corner for wild second half of season

Maybe I should just make picks like yesterday instead of writing all this stuff, eh?

The wifi outage could not stop the winners, so much like GameStop, we will try to keep this train rolling.

Burnley has started to pull away from the relegation zone, which does not really seem to be a realistic worry for the Clarets. Their brand of “Brexit football ‘eritage”, as famous Twitter user @OlesRed likes to say, is needed in the top flight. But Aston Villa is tough, and Jack Grealish and company have been very good so far in 2020-21.

In Liverpool, Everton will host Leicester City in what is definitely a battle of teams that have top four aspirations. Everton has two games in hand, and really could make a run at a UEFA Champions League place. With Jamie Vardy out, Everton really has to take this chance to get all three points.

For Sheffield United, which has the worst first half to a Premier League season in history with just one win and two draws from 19 games, the second half of the campaign gets underway in brutal fashion. The Blades, who get Manchester United today and Manchester City on the weekend, will play six of the top nine teams in the table over the next 10 weeks. Today, they are without eight players, while Manchester United comes in buoyed by a 3-2 win over Liverpool on the weekend.

The different races in the league- at the top, for top four, for Europe, and to avoid relegation- could all be very interesting this season. That is why this league is the best in the world.
