Title clash in November? Manchester City desperately needs to beat Liverpool Sunday

I am not a big proponent of looking at the Premier League table in November and trying to decide which team will be at the top of the standings in May.

But I do think teams can out themselves in good or bad spots early.

Sunday, Manchester City has Liverpool at the Etihad, and right now, the gap between the two teams (with the Cityzens having a match in hand) is five points. At some point, this league is going to start to normalize (right?), and these two teams are going to be battling for the title.

An eight-point gap would be massive, while a two-point advantage could be overtaken with the match in hand.

I think Manchester City shows up today.
