Sunday Nations League slate throws up some heavy hitter matchups across League A

Every so often, outside of the Euro Tournament and World Cup, you get a day like today in international football.

Sunday, there is not one, but two, matches pitting top five teams in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings against each other: No.1 Belgium vs. No. 4 England (League A, Group 2) and No. 2 France vs. No. 5 Portugal (League A, Group 3).

Portugal and France are both 2-0, and it is a rematch of the Euro 2016 Final, when, somehow, the Portuguese won 1-0 in extra time after the French team did everything but score in the match.

Who knows who England will put out on the pitch, and that team, which has so much promise, is in danger of falling apart under Gareth Southgate’s mismanagement on and off the field.

Italy also takes on Poland in a League A, Group 1 battle.
