Monday Premier League Pick of the Day from Miller: Tottenham vs Everton

Everton, Tottenham, have five matches left to make run at Europa League place

While Everton and Tottenham sit just one point apart in the Premier League standings heading into Monday, their seasons so far, and especially after the COVID-19 break, can be categorized in completely different lights.

Spurs made their first UEFA Champions League Final last June, and wanted to kick on from that. But it has been a bit of a disaster: Tottenham (45 points) currently sits 44 points behind Liverpool, and 10 behind Manchester United for fifth (a presumptive Champions League place if City’s ban is upheld.)

For Everton, though, the break has rejuvenated its run towards Europe. The Toffees are unbeaten (two wins, one draw) since the restart, with wins over Leicester City and Norwich City.

I can see that run continuing today.
