Monday Premier League: Miller picks Manchester City vs Burnley with six possible plays

Manchester City looking to lock up top four, then will hope CAS appeal comes back in its favor

For Manchester City, these next few weeks are going to be strange ones.

The two-time defending champions have all but relinquished their crown to Liverpool, and come into Monday’s match with Burnley 23 points behind the Reds and with seven losses in league play.

Remember, this is the City that racked up 198 points in the previous two seasons, with just six losses in 76 games.

Right now, the Cityzens should have no problem finishing second, and they are still in both the F.A. Cup (quarterfinals) and the UEFA Champions League (up 2-1 over Real Madrid in the Round of 16). Plus, they already have the Carabao Cup in their trophy case.

Manager Pep Guardiola seems to have his side back on track after the COVID-19 break, beating Arsenal 3-0 Wednesday, although beating the Gunners at this point has become commonplace.

“It is about getting as quick as possible the points to secure qualification for the Champions League and in two or three weeks we will know about the sentence from UEFA,” Guardiola said prematch.

I will be honest here: Manchester City should hammer Burnley. But with the way the Cityzens have played all season, and a possible Europa League spot available with a good run here for Burnley, it might be prudent to throw a small wager on Burnley or draw (+600), or maybe even Burnley to win (+2400). I don’t expect it to pay out, but this Premier League season has been weird.
