All season, the race for the final UEFA Champions League place in the Bundesliga has looked likely to go down to the final day of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen may now get its chance to lock it up earlier than that.

After a late winner from Leon Goretzka gave Bayern Munich a 2-1 victory over Borussia Mӧnchengladbach Saturday, Leverkusen can take a three-point lead over Mӧnchengladbach Sunday with a win over a struggling FC Schalke 04.

Schalke has been awful since February, going winless in 11 (seven losses), and has been even worse after the break: Schalke has lost four of five (one draw), and has been outscored 11-2.

With or without Kai Havertz in the lineup, I just don’t see anything other than a Leverkusen win in this spot.
