Werder Bremen, subject of Wednesday’s Parx Daily X Bet, looks to keep diggin' out of Bundesliga relegation zone — Miller shares his picks

It can be argued that one of the best teams in Germany right now might not be near the top of the Bundesliga table, but in fact it is close to the bottom.

After a 4-1 loss to open up action coming out of the COVID-19 break, Werder Bremen has kept three straight clean sheets, and picked up seven points, to pull within two points of 16th place Fortuna Dusseldorf. More importantly, Die Werderaner (The River Islanders) are now within three points of 15th place 1. FSV Mainz 05.

Why is that important?

Because Mainz is outside of the relegation zone.

Bremen has a match in hand, too, which it will play Wednesday against Eintracht Frankfurt. This has been a really close series over the years, with lots of goals, although Bremen was knocked out of the DFB Pokal by Frankfurt (2-0) right before the break.
