Breaking Soccer News: Premier League to return June 17 with two matches

The Premier League will return on Wednesday, June 17, with two games: Manchester City vs. Arsenal and Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United.

Oh, how we have missed you, Premier League.

But for fans of the best league in the world, the wait will soon be over.

The Premier League will return on Wednesday, June 17, with two games: Manchester City vs. Arsenal and Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United.

With those two games played, every team will be on 29 games, and have nine matches left in their seasons.

The rest of the teams will begin playing Friday, June 19, with games spread out over the weekend. It is expected that the game times will be staggered so that each contest will be shown on television.

The league should finish on August 1, with the F.A. Cup, which is currently at the quarterfinal stage, set to take place August 8. The month of August is also expected to have the two UEFA competitions, the Champions League and Europa League. Manchester United is all but through to the quarterfinals of the Europa League, Manchester City is in great shape to move on in the Champions League, while Chelsea is all but out: Liverpool and Tottenham have already been eliminated.

Liverpool is in position to win its first top flight title in 30 years, while the top four race may come down to the wire, as will the relegation battle.
