Welcome to the summer of soccer.
While the calendar does not officially mark the new season until next week, it is truly this week that marks the beginning summer, especially in the footballing world.
After the inaugural UEFA Nations League Finals ended with Portugal crowned as champion, two more continents will begin their tournaments at the end of this week, as the 2019 Copa America starts Friday in Brazil, and the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup will begin Saturday with three countries hosting: Costa Rica, Jamaica and the United States.
But before we get to the weekend, there is more Women's World Cup action on tap Monday, along with a whole slate of UEFA Euro 2020 qualification.
Two-time finalist Japan will get its campaign underway at the WWC, looking to make a run to a third title game in a row. Japan is a heavy favorite over Argentina, as is Canada against Cameroon.
The Euro 2020 qualification matches, there are at least five games with favorite odds of more than -350, with some of the class teams of the continent taking on some of the smaller countries. Once again, expect the big boys to take care of business in almost all of them.
